Car registration numbers will be distributed randomly by number generator from January
The distribution of car registration numbers is no longer the responsibility of the State Automobile Inspection department (traffic police). The number generator will select and issue registration numbers randomly. The new order is implemented in Astana but from February, the Ministry of Internal Affairs plans the implementation across the whole territory of Kazakhstan.

Police have made arrests in connection with the embezzlement of large amounts of medicine to the sum of 27 million 500 thousand tenge.
Police officers have solved the embezzlement to the sum of 27 million. An Almaty company representative made a transport agreement for medicine for sum of 27 million 500 thousand tenge in August 2006 and validated the documents in Astana. However, the vehicle with its load disappeared without a trace.
There was no successful identification of the criminals as they used aliases and fraudulent documents.
After an appeal by the victim to the MIA of the Republic of Kazakhstan, criminal investigation department created a subdivision for solving crimes that involve the embezzlement of large sums of money. Officials from “K” department for high technology investigation and criminal identification have used technical the capabilities of the «Obraz ++» automated information system and the Express Search exploring system. As a result, in a short period of time, the criminals were identified and arrested. The stolen merchandise was confiscated in Kostanai and returned to its owner.
